چکیده

Computability in the limit represents the non-plus-ultra of constructive describability. It is well known that the limit computable functions on naturals are exactly those computable with the oracle for the halting problem. However, prefix (Kolmogorov) complexities defined with respect to these two models may differ. We introduce and compare several natural variations of prefix complexity definitions based on generalized Turing machines embodying the idea of limit computability, as well as complexities based on oracle machines, for both finite and infinite

State Complexity of Prefix-Free Regular Languages

We investigate the state complexities of basic operations for prefix-free regular languages. The state complexity of an operation for regular languages is the number of states that are necessary and sufficient in the worst-case for the minimal deterministic finite-state automaton (DFA) that accepts the language obtained from the operation. We know that a regular language is prefix-free if and o...

On universal computably enumerable prefix codes

We study computably enumerable (c.e.) prefix codes which are capable of coding all positive integers in an optimal way up to a fixed constant: these codes will be called universal. We prove various characterisations of these codes including the following one: a c.e. prefix code is universal iff it contains the domain of a universal self-delimiting Turing machine. Finally, we study various prope...

K-trivial, K-low and MLR-low Sequences: A Tutorial

A remarkable achievement in algorithmic randomness and algorithmic information theory was the discovery of the notions of K-trivial, K-low and MartinLöf-random-low sets: three different definitions turns out to be equivalent for very non-trivial reasons. This paper, based on the course taught by one of the authors (L.B.) in Poncelet laboratory (CNRS, Moscow) in 2014, provides an exposition of t...

Simplicity via provability for universal prefix-free Turing machines

Universality is one of the most important ideas in computability theory. There are various criteria of simplicity for universal Turing machines. Probably the most popular one is to count the number of states/symbols. This criterion is more complex than it may appear at a first glance. In this note we review recent results in Algorithmic Information Theory and propose three new criteria of simpl...

A High Performance Parallel IP Lookup Technique Using Distributed Memory Organization and ISCB-Tree Data Structure

The IP Lookup Process is a key bottleneck in routing due to the increase in routing table size, increasing traıc and migration to IPv6 addresses. The IP address lookup involves computation of the Longest Prefix Matching (LPM), which existing solutions such as BSD Radix Tries, scale poorly when traıc in the router increases or when employed for IPv6 address lookups. In this paper, we describe a ...
